predator sp4rw vs dominiak ultra pete

I recently bought a Pred 4 point and a Pred 8 point sneaky because they were priced great. They are no longer being made and are on close out.

They both have 314-2's and play fantastic. Great balance, feel and hit.

i was told this directly by some combination of Predator & Seybert's staff at Valley Forge (their booths were across the aisle and in practice, often treated as overlapping). i was debating taking a show special on an SP at $240, but it was a bit beat, so i didn't. when i asked "what else ya got?" the guy working with me said that's the very last one we have, the new ones will be out in a few months.

I hate to say it, butttt. I'd go with the Dominiak. I hate the way Predators play. Way to mushy for my tastes.

Dominiak

I too vote for Dominiak much more solid hit than predator.
Predator shaft 10 pie shaped pieces. Dominiak 8 pie shaped pieces, including the butt.

Ive played with Predators and not Dominiak's (yet). I want a plain jane from Dominiak. I only know Dominiak's by reputation. I shoot with a Josie sneaky. And it hits fantastic. The predators I've shot feel dead and soft to me. I feel that the Dominiak will hit more solid for you. Besides Dominiak's are made in the USA. Predators are not.

I've recently got a Dominiak Curly deluxe. William was great. Built the cue to my specs, 30" shaft, 19" balance point, 12.75mm shaft, talisman tip, etc...

I do not have a Predator cue, but have played off and on with a Predator 314 first generation shaft (3/8 -10) on a mcdermott EJ-3 butt or my Dieckman butt.

The predator feels...very neutral, If I break with it, it is NASTY, explodes the ball... playing it really feels like nothing special too me... (oh yeah - original tip)

the Dominiak... well, I haven't had it long enough to REALLY make a good determination. It has a longer pro taper. It rewards a good stroke. Seems to play really well if you are true. If you get lazy, then it'll reach up and smack you. Breaks suprisingly well...

I've got a couple of cues now and they are all very different. I'm one of those people who is constantly trying different things to see if they make a difference (joint styles, ferrules, tips, balance points, weights, etc)... However, with most all of the cues I own, the same thing is very true. If you stroke the ball well, keep the cue level, do what you are supposed to do, the cue works. As everyone likes to say, it's the indian, not the arrow...

I'd get the dominiak... Made in USA, they are VERY accomodating and a nice product
