Predator tables

I played on predator tables for this first time last weekend. They seemed clean and the balls were new. I encountered a lot of balls skidding and felt like the cue was “sliding” more than I’m used to on diamonds and gold crowns.

Any advice for playing on these tables?

That sounds more like new cloth and less related to the table.
I’ve played on new cloth, and this was kind of different. It was almost like there was something strange about these balls, and this cloth combined. There was enough scars on the cloth that I’m pretty certain it wasn’t extremely new also.

Sounds like the new balls were polished with too much wax or silicone.

We have a predator table at our place and it does play fast. It also feels like the pockets are a bit tighter. Can't say I've experienced the sliding effect you mentioned though...

Did you play on them at the BCA tournament in Atlantic City? Just curious, my friends actually got first place! Everyone in our pool community is really excited for them!

got nothing to do with the table. cloth and/or ball issues.

skidding and sliding has nothing to do with the table. That’s all balls and cloth.

There are a lot less differences between tables than people think, save cloth speed, rail rubber and levelness. Levelness isn’t a property of the table as a product.

Most of the problem is the perceived heart of the pocket. Different tables have different looking pockets, and people tend to aim thicker on unfamiliar tables due to the subconscious need to “hold” the cue ball more. Less trust. Hit softer and you’ll see your object ball is going a tiny bit thick.
