Predator uni-loc question

The question was, "what is the thread pitch for a uni-loc insert?".
Here is a picture showing a 3/8 10 tap, 3/8 10 allthread and a
3/8x10 Uni-Loc pin. If you look at the Uni-Loc pin you can see lines
from the original threads. This is the minor diameter of the 3/8x10 allthread.
They cut these from allthread.
Take 3/8x10 allthread reduce 0.890" of one end to 0.277 and it will screw into a
Uni-loc insert. A slight taper is needed on the end of the pin.
This is easily done on a lathe, if I had to I could do it with a drill and a file.

Does anyone know the thread pitch on a predator uniloc insert?
YES - I know, I was there when Paul D. Costain, a very good personal friend, created the very first Uni-loc pin on a Hardinge Toolroom Lathe, at his shop, PDC Machine in Rowley, Mass.

Additionally IF you care to check the patent #5,518,455 issued May 21, 1996 you will note that there are ONLY 2 names on the patent under "IINVENTORS" - Paul Costain (PDC Machine owner) & Gary Fumarola (shop foreman). This is significant since by law anyone who was directly involved/connect with the creation of such product had to be acknowledged by name on the patent.

IT is a 3/8 X 11 Modified thread insert and 3/8 X 11 pin.

And for those that are unable to find time to do the research the actual documents are in the file attached - please see items highlighted in RED.

I trust this answers all you questions.

I agree with PFD, as my 3/8x11 drive pin will screw in (a bit loose fitting) to a uniloc insert...all of my various 3/8x10 do not, not even the ACME thread

This picture is of 3/8x10 and a 3/8x11 taps beside a Uni-loc pin.
My only question is which one lines up?

I am not sure how much more specific you need me to be but ALL your questions should be answered by opening up and examining the document I attached above . . .

Exactly what is your objective here ??

I read thru the pdf. It does say the pitch is 11. I am not trying to prove that wrong.
My intention was to show that the Uni-Loc pin I bought was a 3/8x10 not 3/8x11.
The tap and pin came from Atlas. What you say is true, but what I show is true.
That's it.

What you are comparing the taps to is the glue-relief grooves...those are NOT left from using all thread.....those are especially cut in specifically to prevent a hydraulic pressure from building up as you screw it in. Uniloc pins are not made from all thread unless they are imposters...have seen those before.

GSE Cues definately come to mind. The pilot shank is a little smaller but the thread is almost perfect. The uni loc insert screws right on.

I keep running into the PREOAIDR cues.....almost the same size pin as what you have there. Have to replace them as they won't fit a predator uniloc shaft
