I shoot with the 314-2, Le Pro Tip.. Just needing to be able to spin the ball a little more, Just not too much..

I have only tried an Everest medium by Tiger. It seemed to be a very aggressive difference.. Which I was not ready for..

Anyone else notice the English difference between Tip's in this manner. Just need a little more, but not too much..

Have you had this kind of problem?

if you have the patience you could try a talisman tip. imo they're great when they dont' delaminate on you. im using a triangle right now but finding one of those that isn't dried out and worthless is pretty hard to do. i think you should just stick to the tip that you think isn't giving you the spin you want and work on stroking the ball better. maybe shape it a little more and wait for it to break in before you try a different one

Maybe a supplier who keeps fresh new stock of tips! Could help with the Dried out triangle, and Le Pro problem.. I miscued once every other rack with the triangle.. Thats why I went with the Le pro in 2009!

finding a supplier with a good stock of triangles is like finding a virgin in a whore house.

le pros are good but i have the same trouble finding good ones. i've got like 3 good triangles and lepros but the lepros are a little hard for my tasts. i can get used to 'em but i'm not going to bother until my current tip needs chaging

Like you, I also replaced the Le Pro on my Predator shaft with an Everest, a few years ago and definitely noticed the aggressive difference with regard to much more spin, but I like this difference.

The Everests I now routinely keep on it are actually ideal on a Predator.

Just habitually play a bit closer to center when applying spin (another ideal thing as well for many reasons) and you'll soon appreciate having matched your cue with the combo of Predator/Everest that ultimately benefits your game whether shooting a finesse stroke or a power stroke at any given distance of OB and CB.

Yes, I recently got a used 2nd.G Buschka w/ a 314 Cat. I don't 'need' xtra english but the 314 almost always over does it & when I try 2 back off I under english it. I like soft tips because I can control the amount of english better. U can put more on with a hard tip but I find it harder to control. Sometimes U have to super soft stroke the ball which is not comfortable when U have to do it 2 often. I would say keep playing w/ it & you should adapt but that's necessarily the best if it takes you out of natural stroke & game. Hope this helps, but it's still up to you to figure out what's best for U. Good Luck!

Do you do your own tip work?

Well, In my short path in pool I've tried a lot of tips. Try the kamui black medium. If you can handle the scuffing 1 or 2 times weekly I think that is the tip for you. Remember to scuff it regularly, if not, you'll be misscueing a lot.

yeah i do for the most part. it's too expensive to have someone else do it for you when you try as many tips as i do. it's hard to find what i like. always with a brand new razor when i do the cutting. that's how i can tell the tips are too dry or just crap. you can feel the difference when you cut them. the one i'm using now felt like i was cutting leather instead of cardboard when i installed it.

i've had talisman's delaminate on me even when installed with a lathe though.

I've been a predator user since about 96. I had always used Hercules until recently when I decided to try the Kamui tips, both black and brown, they work out very well. Quite recently I purchased a Katana shaft and I love the tip that came with that. It's a Katana tip from Tiger which of course they don't market and was produced specifiy for the Katana shaft. So I placed a call to Tiger, as I suspected they don't make those tips available for purchase but I was told the Sniper tips were quite similar. I tried it on a "lesser" cue, I'm not ready to switch from the Kamui yet but the Sniper is excellent, it holds it's shape, accepts chalk well and is very versitile. You can finesse a shot or bang away. If the Kamui is a 10, the Katana is a 9.8, and the Sniper is a 9.5

I shoot with a kamui black soft on a 314. I just recently swapped to the kamui after shooting with triangle for years. I love it. I tried a moori medium and it grabs the ball a lot more than I am used to. I think the kamui black soft will satisfy your needs.

314-2

When I upgraded from the origional 314 to the 314-2, There was a substantial difference in the hit, and the action..

I tried this Elkmaster Milk-dud. It turns the soft tip into a medium hard. I am experimenting with it right now.. The 1st result was too much spin, But I have squeezed the tip in the vise tighter to dry, It seems the harder the better..

my 314-2 came witha lepro..didn't like it, tried a moori medium and with the mushrooming and glaze i switched to a kamui black soft (glazing over very often) and half way thru the life of it i changed to a sniper thru a recommendation here on the forum. i am pleased with it thus far, no mushroom, no glaze and seems to handle all the english i ask of it. only miscued twice in 5 months and that was my fault.

I don't know if I'd call the move from a 314 to a 314-2 an upgrade. I think the original 314 pre cat is the best shaft Predator ever made. The Z2 is close, but the 314 is the best

If you want less english just use less offset or if you want more, use more offset its that simple. I understand if you don't like how a tip feels but changing tips for an rpm or two isn't how its done. An accurate stroke is how its done.

I use Talisman Water Buffalo hard tips and love them. They guarantee the tips if you don't like them they even pay for the installation cost!

I did a complete review of the WB hard, medium and the B/J tip on my blog below.

go directly to the Talisman web site they have a deal that can't be beat

I am currently trying an emerald tip on my z shaft and it's okay. I like the moori med cause I like the action. The Tiger Emerald seems to be less agressive and is a cheaper alternative. I used the Emerald on my Meucci and liked it. Now I use P3 leopard w/leather wrap z-2 shaft w/moori med. hard to justify anything else.

My friend and I did a bunch of experiments on his table comparing a his predator shaft with a regular tip and a laminated tip to my regular shafts with different tips.

A laminated tip got more spin on the ball each time no matter what the shaft. Spin went like this from lowest to highest.

Regular shaft, LePro tip
Regular shaft, laminated tip
Predator shaft LePro tip <this was almost equal to a regular shaft with a laminated tip, got about 1/2 diamond further up table with spin.
Predator shaft laminated tip got the most spin on the ball. This was with a Medium Black Diamond tip wich he got based on Mike Webb's recommendation.

So to get a bit more spin out of your Prdator shaft I'd say try a laminated tip like a Kamui, etc...

I play with a Kamui soft on one shaft and a Black Diamond soft on another, the Kamui gets more spin and is a softer more controlled hit. That would be the tip I'd recommend you try.

I have tryed alot of tips on alot of predator shafts evrything from the 1st gen to the 2nd gen of shafts even on my Fat shaft . my top three tips to use are
1 Kamui blak
2 the old Morri tips
3 Sniper cheap alternative but doesn't lack much farther from the above two listed
