Predator vs OB 1 shafts

Looking for some opinions on these shafts. I have never hit an OB-1 or the 2nd generation Predator 314 or z shafts. I do have a Kornele cue with a 1st generation 314 and it happens to be my favorite. I recently had Steve make me another cue and now I want to try another shaft so I'm debating whether to stick with what I know or move to the OB or one of the second generation Predators. So, what do you all think? And if you've got a 3/8 10 for sale let me know.

I'm wrapping my mouse cord around my neck as I type this.

Or they are trying to say to you that you should try it by yourself, and don't listen to what others are telling you. There is no magic cue that suits everyone.

In addition to the other responses, I had a 314 and got a 314-2 and liked it even more. Seems to me the cue has a better taper, although I have seen where there is a claim the taper hasn't changed. I measured up a thicker, slightly more rigid shaft. If you order a 314-2, to do it right, I would order a partial and have it fitted to my cue with matching rings. I've tried number of tips but I like the Sniper the best.

The OB you should try out. My experience was it aims the same as a Predator but is a "softer" shaft - at least the one I tried was. The hit was more muted and the shaft more flexible. I could play with one but preferred the Predator.

It does seem like

quite a few pros have shown interest in the OB, and some play with it now.
They are usually good indicators of what is good equipment to use.

Isn't John Schmidt sold on the OB now?

I have the 314-2 w/sniper tip and just sold my OB-1 w/sniper tip. Obviously I prefer the 314-2 although there is really not much of a difference between the two except for the sound of the hit. JMHO.

He's endorsed by OB Cues. Being sold and being backed are two different things. If Predator ponied up the amount he wanted, he'd run 413 with a 314.

OB1 or Predator

My first experience with an OB1 shaft at this years US Open on a demo cue was exactly the same as Chris's.

The OB1 shaft played fine, but it had a softer hit than my predator shafts have. I've been playing with predator shafts for quite a while and I like the way they play and I don't have a reason to switch to different type of shaft (OB1).

I have a 314-2 for my schon cue and and OB-1 for my viattorre. The shaft I like most is actually one of the regular shafts that came with the via. So I think I'm settling on that one. But to answer your question, my experience is the same as others: the OB has a softer hit out of the package. Both are high quality and it really is just a matter of personal preference.

try hitting with both first.. i like ob-1 better but it comes to personal preference
