Predator World 8 Ball Championship (Nov 19-22), Puerto Rico, Winner $60K

FSR has had his chances but seems to be making too many late rack errors. There's time in a race to 13 but he'll need to tighten things up.

I thought it was a race to 13 as well, the screen says race to 10 under the score.

One mistake by Zielinski has let FSR back in the match and the crowd is definitely on the Spaniard's side.

Zielinski is about to play in his third final in just a month.

10/29/2022 Lost final of the American 14.1 to Jungo
11/5/2022 Lost final of the International 9-ball to Shaw
11/22 .... well we shall see!

Best of luck to this rising star.

No shame in three silvers, of course, and Zielinski looks like he'll be a force to be reckoned with for a long time.

I totally agree.
He's only 21.
He'll learn to slow his game down just a bit as he matures.
It is refreshing to see a young Euro-stud shooting with no glove and a wood shaft too btw.
He'll be a World Champ soon, I'm sure:cool:

Personally, I've never seen the need to have a final that's longer than the previous single elimination rounds. The two high-profile individual sports of tennis and bowling don't do it. Why must pool?

On the other hand, however, the world snooker does have a long final, one that lasts two days. More power to the snooker guys that they can keep fans glued to the action for that long.

FSR won this tourney because of two main reasons:
1) He was using the best break. The steep angle break into the head ball (or the 2nd ball) was the best break in the tourney. Too many stubborn players couldn't figure this out and kept breaking from near center lol.
2) He plays fast-- the shot clock table had no effect on him (or Zielinski, for that matter.)

I'd add that he played better position than his opponents, enabling him to get out of more tricky layouts than the others.

True, which was a direct result of the break he was using.
That angle, head-ball break tends to leave more clusters-- and more balls in the racking end of the table-- than the more widely used "centered" break (basically their 10-ball break) so many other players were trying to use.
Frankie's break forces you to HAVE to play your runout with better precision/strategy, which he obviously did.
I use that exact break on 9's myself btw, and the 2nd ball break on the bar boxes. Serves me well too!
One more quick observation, Ziewlinski broke off the end rail, which I do for 10-ball, but you don't see many pros doing that, which is funny because you can generate a lot more power with that break than bridging with your hand. Ziewlinski was destroying the rack lol.
The first thing I teach folks I'm mentoring is to break off the rails, you generate more power and consistency.

Wiktor blows the break at 8 -6

Congrats to Sanchez! he's on a sweet run

as an aside, these guys need to watch some chinese pool and learn some safety play

in the late rack where wiktor played a bank to the right side pocket, i felt he could have welded him behind the 1-ball. even if that was ruiz' suite, and he possibly could have responded with a ticky, i think that was a much better alternative.

anyway, it was a well played final with few open balls missed, and FSR definitely is a well deserved world champion. the world championship overall was brilliant. commentary wasn't always great but that was weighed up by 15+ free streams. just having two main tables with commentary is stepping up a notch!
