Predator WPA World Teams Championship (10 Ball), 8-12 Nov, Puerto Rico, Winning Team $120K

Probably.

But my point was with pro women consistently on tv in the USA for 20 some years, there was a lot of incentive/roll models for local girls/women to get into pool. They did get into pool a lot in the 90’s at least. But that was not enough for the USA to produce a 700 level player.
They Weren’t watching pool. i don’t remember that many playing honestly. our leagues had very few women in them back then. Rarely did I see a women show up for a tournament. I think more play now in the apa

I'm sorry to rant... I've been watching and playing pool since the 90s. The scoreboard in this event is the worst scoreboard ever. I tune in and out a few times per day, and I don't know what is going on each tune in. I don't know what the individual race length is to, I don't know what overall set win/loss race is to. I don't know when the shootout is going to happen. It's such a unique format that info has to be easily understood and on the screen. Not needing to consult the rules on a different site, or listen for 10 minutes to the commentary for them to mention it again.

In any sport in the world, the most important thing is to know "what the score is" when a fan is tuning in. Even casual fans that's all they care about. Here, I'm a lifer pool player and fan, I read the tournament format a couple times, and I still can't figure out what is going on when I tune in. I may be slow, but I'm not this slow.

This scoreboard stinks.

i agree, but i've figured it out. austria is playing germany now:

AUT 1 | 1
GER 1 | 3

each team has won 1 match, and germany is leading the current match 3-1

The teams scores are on the left, the match currently being played is in the gray box on the right. I believe all the races have been to four although they could hi-lite that somewhere

Also a shoot out would only occur in the fifth match if tied. I think they are going women’s singles, men’s singles, mixed doubles, team pick singles then if tied a shootout

another thing they should always have imo if they're trying to bring in new fans is the ball order illustrated in the graphics

Set score on the left. Current set game score on the right. In line with most sports but yes they could sign post it better.

Right, I figured that out too, someone helped me with it here a couple days ago. Still, there is no "end goal" in sight. You'd have to be a super fan like us on this page to know what the "goal" of either of the two columns are. Add in the mix of the shootout which changes based on set score, and match score, and it's very confusing.

In contrast to the Mosconi cup, for example, at the top left of every video shown the whole 4 days is the match score, and then "first to 11 points". Its the easiest thing to follow. For both super fans like us, and new fans. The Predator format on its own merit is just crazy hard to follow, and the scoreboard on the screen does it zero favors.

Chang makes an APA 1 foul letting Germany back in. So strange to see a pro do this. With BIH, he used the front of the tip to push the CB into the place he wanted. Wow.

The commentator brought up the IPT, when fouls were called by moving the CB with ANY part of the stick. Good memory by him. Deno brought that rule in from Carom, and a few players were caught on it. This case was different though. No one ever moves the CB with the forward part of the tip in a pushing motion.

Wow, Taipei was up 2-0 in sets. Then Germany came back and won the next two, to tie 2-2 in sets. That went to a shootout instead of another set. Both teams were perfect 4-4 in the shootout from the normal position. Then it went to sudden death, with the CB 1 diamond back. Taipei missed, Germany missed, Taipei missed, Pia made it and Germany wins.
