Predictions...

We're only a month away from the US Open, so I thought we should start throwing out some predictions on the winner.

I'm guessing Shane Van Boeing will be the most picked player.

My pick, and I'm guessing some people won't be very shocked, is Larry Nevel.

John Schmidt will repeat......

John Schmidt will repeat......or at least be the runner-up...!!!

Louis Rim (Ulrich) is kicking butt and taking names. Hopefully he will have continued success in the open;) . It would be nice to see up and coming player Oscar Dominguez do well or an unknown like Chip Kein who is very capable:) . Good luck, California Players! :D ;) :)

I would love to see a blast from the past win this year:
Allen Hopkins
Kieth McCready

Or one of the new guns:
Shane VB
Samuel "Sparky" Ferrel
Stevie Moore
Sean Wilky

Good luck to all:
Frankie

One of my best friends will be playing up there with the GODS, Raul Alvarez from Miami, Florida. Maybe this will be his big showing...

With the incredible amount of talent in this field, it is almost impossible to make predictions. I have to pull for "Schmitty".

Wouldn't that be an incredible feat to win back to back U.S. Open 9 Ball Championships AND using a cue that you have had for less than a month?

Yes, the odds are against him, but I have felt his fire and learned of the depth of his natural talent and anything is possible, especially with John Schmidt.

I predict that a Filipino will win this year. Their top guns are out in full force which includes Efren, Bustamante, Orcullo, Alcano, Corteza, Pagulayan, Luat, Kiamco, Parica, etc. The only one missing is Marlon Manalo.

I second the blind pick of Louis Rim..er... umm.. Ulrich. I think he is playing very well and that all the hard work will pay off for him.

I would love to see John Schmidt repeat, I just hope he didn;t shoot himself out of stroke with that big 403...

I am also pulling for Tony Crosby. He's a great player, a good friend, and ready to win a major title. I would not be surprised at all to see Tony win this tournament.

My sentimental favorites...
Earl...
I mean how good would it be to have Earl win his sixth and shut up all of the Earl-bashers? I'd love to see that!

Tommy Kennedy...
Always a crowd favorite - always wins the 5 foot and under 9 ball division every year - can he trap lightning in a bottle twice?

Jose Parica...
He has to win this tournament sooner or later, hopefully he will win this BEFORE his HOF induction.

If Earl wins it, I could easily become as nauseating at the Earl-bashers have been. LOL.
