I just had my Bluegrass cue wrapped with smooth black calfskin. Jazz had it on a couple of cues and I have never felt anything better.

I believe that wraps were put on cues for the players with a "slip stroke". Since most players do not have a slip stroke now, they are just tradition or looks.

That sounds fitting.

I have a smooth leather wrap that was installed by Paul Fanelli on my Scrugg's custom. It feels just right, and the seam is almost undetectable.
When my new Ernie Martinez gets here, it goes straight to his shop to have a new smooth leather wrap put on it.

GROAN.......
Another Ernie Martinez cue and mine is still in the wishing well.

i've pretty much always shot with meucci cues so i figure after 15 years i just got accostomed to the way the linen with finish over it feels. i guess you could say i prefer wrapless since thats about the way they feal, but i like the asthetics the wrap offers. so i voted other since its a linen wrap on them, but not the same feal since it has the clear coat finish over it.

I'm surprised how that the majority prefers no wrap. Maybe it's because most of the cues i see people playing with have some sort of wrap. Also a lot of the cues i see go up for sale have a wrap most of the time, guess everyone's holding on to their wrapless cues then :)

Many billiard (carom) players use a rubber wrap. I wonder how many players (who checked "other") use a rubber grip.

i would imagine the others are meucci users and those that liek cork. i've read other places in this forum that its supposed to be a pretty comfortable wrap.

I live by Chicago, so in the Summer a wrap is a must. When the humidity is 1000%(not a typo), my Muecci use to stick to my hand. Went with a Linen, so when August comes around i'll find out if the Schon was worth the money.

Cork is my favorite. Hands down! After that, a soft leather, not textured.

Leather is leather, there are two leather options, combine them and leather would be the most popular choice in the poll so far....just wanted to point that out for a sec.

Actually the majority use leather.

Edited to add: Posted this right after I saw mayamon's post and didn't see seymore's post until I read further.

Other options

I prefer stacked leather, leather cord, cork, and wood wraps...lol.

Guess I have strange tastes since most are not listed.

Does anyone have a sisal wrap? I have never tried one and wondered about it. Have only seen one in my life.
