Preferred Shaft Size (Regular Maple)

I prefer 13mm. For whatever reason when I go smaller I overplay shots. I call it getting fancy. I switch to a fatter shaft and it keeps me in check. Think it also fits in my bridge hand better. No wiggle room.

What is your preferred shaft size for a regular maple, pro taper shaft (not LD)? 12.75mm seems fairly popular, along with 13 mm.
My solid maple shaft is hollow - does that count?

It's about 9.5-10mm, but I'd also like 11-11.75 (like a Predator Z2).

I like 'em thin for two reasons:

- less wood/mass at the tip = less squirt
- can see more precisely where I'm contacting the CB

No smaller than 12.5mm.

For years I played with a 14mm. Every cue that I have ever had made for me was that size up until recently when I came back to pool and bought a few cues that were already made and of course they weren't that large.

I would probably still be playing with my 14mm shaft except I had the cue refinished and after 30 years it had to be sanded down a bit in order to make it like new and even out the spots where it had worn down a bit from play over the years. It is now 13mm.

I learned to play with a 14mm from Jack Taylor.
