President Doesn't Salute During National Anthem

Wonder if as many people got on this pool message board and commented on Clinton getting a BJ?? Or brought up the picture of democrat Kerry at the Antiwar rally with the Fondas back in the 70's?? Talk about disrespecting your Country.
 
Well JJ, I don't need to "think" if I would utter those words were I there, I KNOW I WOULD !!! The pres was wrong to show disrespect, period. He should have put his hand over his heart as all good citizens should do in civilian clothes.

The Daytona was sold out long prior (about 11 months ago) to anyone knowing the president would be there, so his presence had absolutely zero affect on the local ecenomy, plus or minus. Not to say that some $28 mil is small change -- good for the region -- but REAL economic growth would be addressing the millions of lost jobs and the multi-trillions of debt economics.

IMO you have it reversed, the president dictates his timetable to the Secret Service and they take it from there.

Lastly, even my foreign born, naturalized citizen mother-in-law learned about saluting the flag in citizenship classes. She noticed before I did that there was no respect shown by the pres. Of couse, she was married to a career Air Force man prior to his death. Enough said.

When the anthem was being sung I don't even remember seeing the camera on President Bush. It was on the singer. And she sure did one hellofa great job. You have to admit. But in the past I have noticed that the President has the utmost respect for our Country so I think you are full of it to bring this up.

Oh, and when you hear all the Politicians talking about our bad economy - just think of Daytona and how much money our poor, weak economy spent here.

The Secret Service dictates the moves of the President and they are on a tight schedule. It is common for all Presidents to show up at an event, make an appearance, and depart.

President Ford came to my graduation from College, said Hi, and left. That is what they do. Any deviance to preplanned moves gives the Secret Service members ulcers. President Kennedy drove them nuts.

The rest of the comments might be "and the first victim of this debate will be the truth". I L O V E my Country. I r e s p e c t my President. He is just a man. Men make errors. He made one. My ex and I sat watching the race together. She was the first one to notice the President not covering his heart with his hand. I was amazed at his error. She generally complains to me that no one salutes the Flag during the Pledge of Allegiance at the high school she works at.

The second victim will be anyone who dares to question the President's actions (or lack there of). It is my civic duty and that of every citizen to question. Once there is no one asking questions, why should our leaders tell the truth (back to the first question)? Are we Lemmings? Why is it a crime to point out the failings of our leader and leadership? Republican or Democrat!!!!

Yes, this is the wrong place for a political debate!

I have been in the white house before, I called a friend there and was told the president feels a citizen should stand at attention, which he did during the national anthem or put his hand over his heart. He feels either is appropriate conduct. If you are in the military you then should salute. The president always sets standards of conduct in our society.

People are coming on this thread saying he just walked in and walked out just for a photo op to use everyone and was not there 5 minutes. They trashed the guys visit and trashed him and his intentions. Here are the facts, he flew air force one low over the field 45 minutes prior to the race start, and he took Ben Afflecks job away as grand marshal. Ben is not the Presidents friend. The presidential motorcade road down pit row and the president got out and mingled and met most of the drivers with his wife Laura just before the race began.

Bush then retired to the grandstand suite area to watch the first half of the race. With 230 miles left in the race after watching over half of it, he left beating the traffic he would have been hopelessly trapped in. He did not have a choice because of that, he had to leave early. The secret service made him leave. If Bush was not a race fan he would not have been there or he would not have stayed to watch the race. He was there 3 hours, not 5 minutes.

You know I sit back and thought, here is our president who traveled the length of the country to come in to hang and have some fun and these a holes on this board are trashing him for this. Finding fault with every single thing he does.

Then I began to realize, that is what they are doing with me also, finding fault and picking apart every thing I do or say as well. If I say the sky is blue, they come on and say no it’s gray and he’s a fraud, he pretends to be a weather forecaster, he does not know squat. I then ask why do they do this, and the answer is simple, it’s this small group of bozos who are trashing me, trashing the president. They have no respect for any one of authority and can’t stand seeing anyone have any success. Why, they are bozos that are why. That is why I call them that. If a war time president can’t get any respect on this board then what chance do I have?

As long as the trash keeps trashing people, I think I’ll take my action somewhere else.
God bless our war time president, God bless America. Any body that has a problem with that should move to another country or vote for Kerry and Fonda for VP, now that would be a real team.

I apologize to everyone else in this forum for contributing to a non-pool thread in attempts to make mockery of another persons shortcomings. I will try not to do this in the future.

I think that P.M Paul Martin would expect to hear all kinds of different comments/insults and as long as they were backed up with some thought he would respect them being an elected official he knows best that it comes with the job. You are half right the IDIOT didn't really win his election did he. As for you being the great protector I don't think many Canadians ever felt threatened by Iraq. It's your foriegn policy not ours that has made your enemies, you step on countries if you don't get your way and smear your friends if they don't bend over backwards to help you. As far as our contribution we've been in Afganistan (remember that place) since the start and will stay for the rebuilding of it I'm sure. Your Idiot has hardly acknowledged our contribution there (or anyone elses) we have lost 8 men 4 from an American F-16 (I'm sure it was an accident, how do you put it "shoot first ask questions later?") and your Goverment or media hardly mentioned it. Supporting G.B in Iraq? we're a sovereign country and have our own say in the world and a respected one at that. Nobody denies that Saddam had to go but you should of did it the first time you promised (U.S encouraged Iraqis to rise up against the ba'ath party and left them to be slaughtered) the U.S cares about oil and money if they cared about the people of Iraq they would of held that promise. I'm tired of hearing/feeling the slander towards countries not involved in the U.S effort in Iraq, Europe was in flames and England was at the brink of defeat yet you sat on your hands during WW2 the U.S didn't do anything until there intrests were threatened (Pearl harbour) and a buck could be made. The Idiot is the only president not to visit Canada (which is customarily the first) his number one trade partner and close nieghbour. Early in his term he was interviewed by Rick Mercer who kept on refering to the P.M (Chretion at the time) as Prime Minister "Tim Horton" (a donut shop named after a hockey player) and the Idiot didn't see his error. I live in a free country don't tell me that American actions throughout the world aren't my business it's that attitude thats got you where you are that your needs are above all. I'm sorry Larry but you'll have to move out this fall. You can call me childish names all you want as long as you can back them up with facts.

Sir, you now answered your question why our President has never set foot in your land. If you and your attitudes are typical of most Canadians why should he. If that is how you all really think and I was bush, I would make you buy a $500 visa to cross the border and head to Florida every year. Every time you cross, a new $500 visa. I would make you wait a month to get the Visa. I would show you real fast who really needs who.

Why are there so many people on this board who just hate. Where did all the hate people come from?

I don't have any hatred for Americans or anyone it's that attitude I'm speaking of (paying for visas) that we're privileged to be in your company and we will always owe. Isn't the right to voice an opinion what you fight for?

Hey man, that dude had a really great idea, charge you canucks a $500 visa to enter a real country, then we should change you another $1000 beach tax to enter florida, make you buy two visas, or you could remain in Canada in january in your 25 degree below paradise. Nobody comes up there, but you white as the belly of a fish snow birds do screw up Florida really bad with all your northern bull do do. Everyone in florida hates your guts, thought you would like to know that. They dont want your money, they want you to stay home. When you turkeys arrive Highway 19 becomes know as the highway to hell.

This forum represents America at both its best and worst. There are very few countries on earth that this subject could be posted without fear of reprisal. Oh wait, some flat bed trucks with UN flags painted on M1 tanks just went by. They must be preparing for the upcoming UN invasion of America. Oh, wait a minute, wrong forum! Just kidding. Seriously, the one flaw all of my overseas friends mention about this nation and most of its people is their total unwillingness to accept criticism. No matter how wrong we as a country maybe, they feel every American must shout down our critics in unison. Its our duty.
 
Bush is a loser and is the worst President America has ever had. Bar none.
Anyone who EVER votes Republican really needs to ask themselves what the hell they are thinking. The Republicans have always been about protecting the rich and the special interests and have NEVER done anything to help the average person.
