At our shop we have an older Joss with the Jhooks. I shot with it not to long ago and just loved the hit of it. I'm going to buy it but there is one problem.

I do not like the wrap on it. I like leather or tight wraps. This one is loose and you can feel the string.

I have a Schon STL-6 with a super tight wrap. I love it. It's like it has a coating on it.

I was curious if this could be done to the Joss if I purchase it? And how much would it run around.

Here are some pictures of it that I took with my phone...

I'm liking the white color on the wrap. But would enjoy seeing other colors too if there are others. I just need it tight like it was wood or something like that.

Any help is appreciated

Should be no problem for most repair guys or makers. Double pressed linen may be a good option for you, by the sound of Your post.:) Prices vary, and depend on if the wrap groove needs any work done, but may just be a matter of replacing what you have on there now.:)

I got my box cleared now. (No wonder I haven't gotten any death threats lately)

Is the "Double Press Linen" what Schon uses? Because I've played with some cues with wrap on it that is somewhat smooth. But I like it thick feeling and like it's part of the stick. Not sure if that makes any since. I have little knowledge on cues. Pool tables I'll answer a lot. Sticks I can't tell a difference between a Balabushka and a tree branch.

The way I prefer is smooth/slick feeling just from the type of linen, double pressing, and the starch I prefer to use, definatly tight though, because I lay a bed down with white glue & hand wrap tightly. I believe some schons have a simular wrap. I have used sealer before on some types of linen, but usually not needed, and from My expereinces It can nap up alittle over time from the hand wearing on It, as where My prefered method does not seem to do that. There may be a better sealer out there that I have'nt tried though. The wax soaked linens seem to produce the slicker high shines without the need for sealer.

As long as the wrap is not loose or rotten it doesn't need replaced as it can be cleaned, repressed, sealed and made as smooth as you want by any competent cue repair person. Wraps can be pressed so that they look like glass and feel like glass if that is what you prefer.

Kind of blury, but from the looks of the pic It may not be too bad, so I aggree something could probably be done to tighten It up and repress if as mentioned there are no major tears, and the wrap still has life left. Usually when I get one to do the old wrap is in bad shape, so even not worth the effort of cleaning, worn really bad, rotton, broken in the middle, or It's simply for a color change. I do have to repress ocasionaly on wraps that are just napped & I've fixed a few that ends were loose on also. I know atleast one thing that is done sometimes for just a loose wrap, so it does'nt have to be re-stretched but have not tried It Yet, altough I don't see why It would'nt work. For Me It depends on what the person wants, how much work is involved verses replacement, and If the wrap is of any historical value.
