A latch is easily installed. When I designed the case I made sure to pick a latch that was easily replaceable as that has been a problem on all cases in this style for 40 years until now.

The latch installs with a four screws in about ten minutes. Roy at www.indyq.com will sell you one and give you all the instruction you will need.
