First forgive me if someone else already posted this as I probably havent read all the post on the subject.
Ok so the players are upset that they are not getting paid on time AS PROMISED. They are also upset that the amount of money added has been lowered just before the event. Basicaly the players are upset because they are promised things and then they end up getting lied to.
Well the solution is so simple. Dont make promises to the players that you cant keep. Be upfront about it. If your not sure how much money will be added then give a window based on moneis coming in. For instance, $15000-$30000 depending upon certain monies coming in. Have a list of quotas that need to be met in order to come to the final amount added. Make this list availible prior to the event. That way the players know the added money will be a certain amount based apon the amount of money coming in.
Next, about being paid late. All the players already know that if they finish high, they will be on a payment plan. So why not just come out and say it? For instance. Places 6-25 (or whatever place its paid down to) will be paid on the final day and places 1-5 will be paid by monthly instalments up until a specific date by wich they will be paid in full.
Now everything is out in the open. No broken promises and no bad feelings. The players know exactly what to expect and they can choose to play or not to play.
