Gas price out by me have gone from about $2.60/Gal. in the last Six months, to now almost $3.79/Gal in most places near me:angry:. I don't drive a lot of mines being retired, but I see the prices of other stuff that is delivered by Truck, Messenger, UPS, USPS, etc. creeping up.:sorry:

The other day on the way home from downtown, I stopped at what was one of the busiest Sports Bar in PHX, the guy in the who run the Pro Shop that use to come in a 2PM, now shows up a 6 PM, and the place was like a ghost town.

Ask one of the long time employees what has happened. She said price of Gas, and Unemployment has killed business.

On of my buddies live on the outskirts of Cincinnati Ohio, and is a self employed cement/general contractor who use to play pool a couple of night a week, , he say the are around him is dead or dying.

jeez that was hard to read....

I'm in no way a member of the grammar, punctuation, spelling or syntax police, but do some people even READ their post's before they hit submit?

The difference in the price of gas now compared to 1964 is that in 1964 you could buy a gallon of gas with three dimes and maybe get a few cents in change. Today you can buy a gallon of gas with those same three 1964 dimes and get 3 or 4 paper dollars in change.

The price of gas has gone down, but not as fast as the value of your paper money has been destroyed by the federal reserve banking cartel which has printed twice as much money as existed in history in the last 3 or 4 years.

END THE FED.

X2 and also, tell that asshat in the white house to allow drilling. It's a fact the US has more oil in the ground than all arab countries combined. So on that note we need to end the commie Obama too.

It's a free market, they would drill it and sell it to the highest bidder over seas. Not sell it to you cheap. Unless the government drills it and gives it away to the people in this country the price will still be high regardless.

We would never stand for that. It would be like having British Petroleum take over drilling into the Gulf of Mexico with no safety or government oversight.

You should feel like your stealing, Here in CALI the cheapest you can find gas in my area is $3.95 most places are over $4

I can't even drive to my favorite pool room because it used to cost me about $20 round trip, now it's at least $30

The same people who are driving up the cost of food are driving up the price of gasoline. Wall Street speculators. The riots in the middle east didn't start because they were pissed about US supported dictators, they were angry they could not afford to buy food because of speculation. That's not socialism, fool. Thats unmitigated capitalistic greed. The foundation of teabaggers everywhere. Wall Street drove the country into the ground. Got billions in tax entitlements. Paid their employees billions more in nearly untaxed bonuses and then created more derivatives to steal even more money. But don't let facts get in the way.

In the last decade, did you by a new (to you) vehicle?

If so, did you consider how good/bad the milage of that vehicle was before purchase?

Well, considering the EIA estimates of proved oil reserves above, I'd say we all may be riding a bicycle to our favorite pool room in the future. Considering that the U.S. has 22.3 billion barrels of oil in proved reserves and considering that the U.S. burns 18,771,000 barrels of oil EACH DAY (as of 2009), or 6.9 billion barrells annually, I'd say we are F#$cked. If we were able to extract 100% of those proved reserves today, we'd burn through that in about 8 years.

Peak oil
anyone???

and then there's this comforting chart:

Not to worry though, the top three regions outside North America in the exhibit above are comprised by politically stable, rational, US allied countries. Oh wait a minute...

Who would never stand for it? Oil companies are making record profits, they have no interest in flooring the market with cheap oil. They have contracts and capped wells they are not tapping now. We are not in any kind of oil shortage. They have no interest in spending billions looking for new oil and drilling it. The price would have to go to 150 a barrel to even get their interest. You know what the price would be at the pump then. Truth is, we have cheap gas now but we are spoiled habitual abusers and wasters. We drive around just because we have nothing better to do.

There is hardly anyone who could not cut their gas use by 30 to 50% if they had to. If one wants to get in their 15 mpg. suv and just waste gas that is their privilege, we are a free people but it comes with a cost. It also drives the price up due to supply and demand. It is an easy fix, all it needs to be is a patriotic thing to not waste. Over night we could together end the over demand and dependence by a great degree. Don't count on any self-centered and self-absorbed American to do it any time soon though. That is just who we are, stupid suckers. The same people who buy over priced designer shirts made in China and bought platform shoes they could not walk in. Cowboy hats because they saw the movie "Urban Cowboy" and every other band wagon that comes along.

I was referring to a couple studies and the book "The Energy Non-Crisis". Those numbers don't include the oil fields in the northers ice shields, which the US owns. It has been written in more than one publication that each of those oil fields are larger than any other in the world.
BTW there have been at least two bills passed in the last two years that include more regulations that have driven up the cost of food. This is just the beginning. Energy is next. When people can't afford to keep the lights on Obama will get the support he needs for all of his pet "green" projects. This will create even more government jobs and more people who rely on the government for their well being -and raise taxes some more. Hooray socialist corruption!

How do you account for my post above? Three 1964 silver dimes (they were all silver then) can still buy a gallon of gas and you can get 3 federal reserve notes in change. The price of gas hasn't gone up, the value of federal reserve notes has gone down. The Federal Reserve System (central banking is a central tenant of Marxism) is counterfeiting your money, that is what is driving prices upward. The Federal Reserve is owned by the private bankers that own our politicians.

I find it hilarious that you would take the hearsay word of a Baptist Minister over vetted, peer reviewed industry and academic studies in the data I provided. But, to each their own.

People search for what tells them what they want to hear. They could find a dozen things that contradicts what they want to hear and ignore them as they cling to the one that tells them what they want to believe. Picture a child with his fingers in his ears chanting "La La La La La La La" to drown out what ever they don't want to hear. I never understood people wanting to lied to. I resent being lied to by anyone.

Gas prices and pool cost!

Well the gas is tearing up everyone's Arse, the food prices yesterday were beyond me, a bellpepper was $1.24 a few weeks ago it $.74, celery wa $1.74, few weeks ago $1.19 so yes , the gas pricing is gonna ketch up with everything, and untill we get a handle on it , we're screwed, ..all SPECULATERS, they all should be tared and feathered,

gas should be no more than $2.00 a gallon!, greedy people in this World, hell they done got everything, but they want it all!!!, thats OK, one day those people will ask me for a drink of water, and I'll say $1,000 a glass, they may ask me for some wood to heat their now Hutt, I'll say $5,000 a ric............but maybe that would make me one of them!, so I'll just say find your own!..............

No Shit Sherlock, I do have a Coal Mine in Arkansas, so to speak, thanks to good ole Dad & Mom and some "Minerals Rights" in the heart of what will soon be Coal Country, and as soon as they go to digging I'll have to see what the price is that I'll sell, I know one thing as soon
as they take the first shovel, "Ole Cat" & "Country Calvin" will be putting on Large Added Pool Tournaments every week!, will have very small entry's and a free room to poolplayers at motel across the street of our poolroom, that will be good for pool & players because me and Calvin are players, that will happen in 2-5 years, The Processing Plant is almost finished, I ain't greedy, I may die later on today, I believe in spending money, but I'm gonna try to make it ( Live ) till this place turns to a powder puff!

Oh, and YES, the Gas prices have affected my pool playing, I'm playing much better these days!
