Prices vary with market conditions. I'm sure that tip replacement is much more expensive in downtown Manhattan than it would be in Tupelo Mississippi. Your initial expenses for doing business must be factored in. With all of the layered tips costing the same price, though, I'm sure he won't have to keep such a large supply of different brands of layered tips. Everyone would order the most premium layered tips over the more common and lowered price ones. Kamui's, after all, cost 40 times the price, wholesale, of a Super Pro.

i called a couple places around maryland to put on a tip I already have

ranged from $20 to $5. So I drove 35 minutes for $5. Many of the more expensive ones would refuse not to sand the ferrule

Kamui med by Joe Blackburn at SBE $40.

Any time you have any work done at a tournament or expo or such you have to expect to pay a premium for that service. The mechanic has travel expenses for him and his equipment, he must pay for his booth rental, he must pay for his meals and his room and usually a number of other costs. These costs for a show like the one at V.F can easily be more than 5,000.00. You have to do a lot of repair work to just cover the overhead before any profit is seen.
