Pro and top players

In response to "Wallets" post #10 in this thread: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=116114, I'm curious to know some of the pro and top players level of education and if they have prior or other professions or degrees outside of the pool world. I know a lot eventually become businessmen and women based on marketing themselves and their products or services. But if for some reason they were not involved in pool, what would they be doing? Or what were their occupations before they were able to play full-time professionally?
 
OK, I'll start - here's three hall of famers.

Steve Mizerak was a school teacher at the same time he was winning straight pool championships (early 70's I think). He quit teaching after the Miller Lite commercial, probably because there were a lot of exhibition and endorsement offers.

Joe Balsis was a butcher who had given up the game for many years and then returned and started competing (the 60's mainly). At least I always read that he was a butcher, but wikipedia says he was a boat machinist in the Coast Guard.

Irving Crane was a car salesman - Cadillacs, I think - all the while he was competing in tournaments.

Of course, many others had jobs connected with billiards in one way or another (owning a room, making cues, etc.), but I don't think you're looking for that.
