taiwan is probably the country that's had tight american pool tables the longest? or japan? just what i've heard.

No such American pool club. Well yay Taiwan and Japan regardless.

My local club is Rasson's with 4" pockets, which is all I've really played 9 ball on. There is another club near me with more forgiving tables, but they are much slower and I find it nice getting to play on a faster cloth. I'm guessing the club I play in probably is a bit more demanding than the average UK club, though I'm not sure what the norm is.
