I guess I should have put a 7ball on the table. With BIH, i can get out a number of ways but if you notice the shots require tight position. Coming under and not scratching and not getting right on top of the 8 is not easy. The position for the draw shot has to be dead right. An inch off the rail and its another shot.

Anyway it seems to me there is no easy way out here for c/d player that allows for the expected slight positional error.
 
Actually you're right. If I were shooting it, with the 8 on the rail, I'd have to try to draw straight back, and usually when I try to put strong draw, the cue ball jumps off the table. That's my real world analysis.
 
If I was in doubt as to having the ability to hit any of the previous mentioned outs, I would play off the left side of the 8 barely moving it and leave the c/b on the left short rail. That way it's a long hard cut to the corner or a difficult bank to get position from. IMO the easiest way to get from being a d/c player to the next level is to know when to play an easy safe and let your opponent make the error.

If you have some shotmaking ability though, it seems that you have heard all the other options.

How to execute this shot

I would highly suggest you get a copy of Buddy Halls video 'Position Play'. He specifically covers this shot with variations to getting to the 9. Then, as everyone has stated... practice practice practice. If this is your least favorite shot, do it till it becomes your most favorite.
