Problem with Predator SP4RJ

I have a Predator SP4RJ that had a wierd "clunk" sound when hitting. I spoke with Predator and they had me ship it back. They determined it had a bad ferrule and they replaced the ferrule at no charge. The noise is no longer there, but it seems like it does not get the action that any of the other Predators I have used get. I have no problem getting 2 or 3 times the draw with a house cue. I have noticed that when the cue is put together there is a sound at times if you lightly tap the butt end to the floor. I have used the shaft from other Predators on my butt end and it seems to solve the problem. Has anyone else had any experiences like this? I almost think the Unilock joint may be bottoming out but am not sure.

Might be, might not. In my opinion, which may not be the opinion of most cue builder/mechanics is that anyone who buys a cue with a uniloc pin is just begging for trouble. It is something that is not needed in a cue and it's design is flawed and overkill. Any slight discrepancy in installation prprocedure or a little dirt later and problems develop with the system. When everything is perfect it is still a very weak link between shaft and butt. I build completely custom cues completely to the customers specs in most instances but I refuse to install a uni-loc in any cue that I build.

Relative to your "action" question, I wonder if your ferrule was replaced with one of a different material. This wouldn't be the case if your shaft was brand new. Was the shaft an older one? If not, was your tip replaced with the same type you used before and properly shaped?

It has a 314-2 shaft. When I sent it in to Predator it had a Kamui med and Predator replaced it with a Morri med. which is the same tip used on some of the other shafts I have put on my butt end.
