well, my banks were at 8-9 out of ten, i was extremely confident shooting a bank into the side pocket, NOW I CANT MAKE SHlT! i consistantly miss short, and when i have to shoot a bank, my confidence is at an all time low, i lost a tourney the other day, if i would have made my bank, i would have been in 3rd place guarenteed, IM IN A SLUMP WITH MY BANKS, ITS BEEN GOING ON FOR LIKE 2 MONTHS, AND I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!
any advice on how to get my banks back? and my confidence back?
i been playing pool in pool rooms for 25 years, 31 years if you count other spots(I just figured this out). So thats my credentials.
I have been playong banks for a little over a year, which means i'm still wet behind the ears playing banks. I have been lucky enough to spend a good bit of time with John Broomback(he would drill anyone alive right now), Shannon and bobby Cotton a good banks player for 40+ years.
What I have noticed is when I fall into a funk and cant make a bank, I stop for a couple days and play 9ball after banks they all look like hangers, then i get my pockiting balls feeling back-then I switch to banks again because I like it more. I have asked the best in the world about this and when you fall into funk playing banks forget it play something else for a while-any bank can be missed at anytime/9unless your Brumback), at the Derby in the banks Ring Game Shannon needed one Cardone was commentating, Shannon fell into that funk and Brian Gregg came back and won, Cardone kept saying "Something eery is going on here". Cardone and his vast experience picked up that Shannon fell into the funk.
So stop playing banks for a week or 2 and play 9 ball, if you switch over to 1P you lose that bank stroke. When Broomback stayed with me for a week(he was in Vegas on biz) so I would see him in the mornings-I handt been playing any banks, i was playing alot of 1P and my stroke was weak. When I was playing banks all the time my stroke changed it adapts itself to what ever game your playing the most IMO. to play good banks and 1p at the same time-takes one hell of a player to adjust fast.
