A few people have asked about what happened this year compared to previous years.
We used to get 70-80 people at the EW and that has dropped at the casino site and this year we barely had over 40 and out of that a few let me know that they decided they wouldn't be going.
I showed up late Friday and had the badges in the room and put up some of the signs. As I ran into people I knew or ones that knew me I gave them their badges.
Saturday the One Pocket challenge started and TV Mike was set up to video tape it (which I didn't know about but its the kind of thing Greg likes along with most of us) so for 3 days the room kind of takes a back seat to the challenge. There is always one of the tables available for members.
Now to the big problem:
I don't like ever putting my personal business out like this but my wife had a couple of breast biopsy's scheduled for after the DCC but she called me Saturday and said it was moved up to that Monday. Anyone that knows me knows my family comes first and I'll leave anything at the drop of a hat for my family.
So I left for home on Sunday but did ask TV Mike and his helpers if anyone came looking for their badges to give them out. They were in a bag in the room and I guess when the one pocket challenge was over and all the stuff was packed up they went missing along with a couple of other things.
Evidently housekeeping must have thrown the things away.
I came back to DCC early on Friday and found out about that but had no luck locating any of it.
It's a hard room to police being in the middle of everything as opposed to the EW but it's all we have (its that or nothing) which is why we always asked that people use their badges like quarters in a bar to make sure its members on the tables.
Even members would be in there without anyone else and then someone would come in so they'd play a set and maybe later it would happen with the other table so it would look like maybe they were abusing the privilges but it would be empty for periods of time so they thought they might as well play someone.
We always asked for volunteers to watch the room but it never panned out good. We do the best we can and I'm usually found easy enough except for this year. I thought I had it half ass covered but it I guess it wasn't.
If I ended up spoiling anyones DCC experience all I can say is I'm sorry but I had to leave.
