i just read an interesting article from a sports psychologist regarding mental preparation when playing golf. if you just replace the word golf with pool and read the article, i would think alot of people would benefit from reading it.

i really think it's the key that could take an A player to the next level or any player really.

I have read alot of his work.

In Pool School we teach the very same thing. We call it the "Process". How to stay in the NOW moment.

Every Pool Play & Golfer should read his works.

If you are thinking about what you are doing and NO outside thoughts are interfering then you are focused !

Applies to most things.

what you are saying is the destination, what this guy is saying is how to reach it. if it was that easy, everyone would be able to play their best at all times versus all players and in any situation. from what i see, that is a problem for most people. or at least me.

Read "Inner Tennis" by Galway(sp?), one of the greatest sports psych. books ever. He breaks the game into TWO things: Bounce-Hit, thats it. Book's info. transfers to most sports and is an eye-opener for those who over-analyze their actions.

Interesting. My girlfriend was recently talking about a part of yoga that advocates persistent practice without being attached to results. Seems similar.

This is an absolutely key concept for consistent play. Mindulness meditation and hypnosis can be beneficial in building visualization and focus skills.
