Production Cue Revamp?

Hi there,

Are there any cue-makers here who specialize in or like to do revamps of production cues? I have a lower model 1994-ish Meucci (please don't hate) that I do not play with much anymore but I am partial to it and would be interested in having a 'new' cue made from it.

The cue is not worth a lot of money. It would need a new forearm. So what I was thinking of is new 4-point forearm, butt sleeve, and updated ring-work including new collars for the 2 shafts. Also, possibly a new wrap since I'm not particularly fond on the existing coated wrap...

Or, would this be a total waste of time and money? I realize it would require some dollars, but at the same time I'm not looking to spend a fortune on the job either. Right now the cue is only for 'light duty' due to the forearm being broken and epoxied at the break.

Any input is welcome. Thanks!

I replaced a forearm on aMeucci cue that had split out.
Used an old piece of Rosewood from a retired bar cue and a 3/8 x 10 pin.
Original shaft and collar but no joint ring on the forearm.
It is one of my favorite players.

The most requested revamp around here is a shaft re-taper to the WilleeCue profile and reduction of tip size.
Fitting a low deflection shaft like OB1 or Predator is also popular.

the amount of work your looking at appears to be almost like building a new cue. I would think you would be better off just trying to find another Meucci of that model. (What Model is BTW) or take that design and give it your personal touch and have a cuemaker of your choice make it.

qbilder and Willeecue, thanks for the input.

Soulcoma, I thought the model number was 94-4, but I couldn't find that using Google. I bought the cue new in 1996 or 97. I could find a pic of the same cue (model #84-3) but mine is not a Meucci Originals. One of the shafts is from a Meucci Originals, though.

I see where you are getting at and maybe it is too much work. I don't want another of this model of cue. Looks-wise it really does not fit my taste anymore. This one has A LOT of sentimental value though so I was looking at it as a way of updating the cue, making it playable again, and retaining some of it's core components. With the exception of the forearm the rest of the butt section is solid (to my knowledge) and the shafts are in good condition.
