No, why would I look, not my cue. Yes she looked at the website but didn't call, just sent it. I just gave her their name and told her of them as I heard nothing but good. Supposedly the price was almost $100 more than stated on web site according to her. Ended up being around $400. Who knows the whole story, I just told her she should have got a quote first. She was a little miffed as she had another cue done by a place somewhat more local to us and it was about $250 but it didn't turn out the greatest.Have you looked at their website and work order? Did she?
It is very difficult for me believe that they would vary so much from so much from their SOP.
Whoa. I did not mean any insult. Merely attempting to determine what information y''all were armed with, and say her story was difficult for me to accept. No, why would I look, not my cue. A friend had an old Meucci done by then awhile back. She asked me who to send it to and I said them. Cue was done in a couple weeks and looked fantastic but she got all over me because it was way more than stated on web site and she thought they should have put a new tip on right away.
I said did you ask for a new tip and she said no she thought they just would. I then asked, how they could charge so much more than quoted. She said she didn't get a quote, just looked them up online and sent it to them. When she called them after, they told her prices stated online had went up. Their work was really nice though, just call first for a quote before sending.
If you ever have to send another one out, get an inexpensive tube style case to put the cue in before you pack it. I sent my Schick super sleeper to them to be refinished inside an old Sterling or Majestic (forget the brand name) case and they sent it back in the same case. It's just another layer of protection that you can reuse.Scotts work & turnaround is excellent.... only thing that rattled me was the shipping box. I shipped my cue in a rigid box and got it back in a USPS triangle. The cue was wrapped in newspaper. No problem, no damage but it I was surprised.
I had a Dufferin conversion made from (not saying)... I did not like it. I sent it to Proficient to re-taper/refinish, some butt work. It looks and feels amazing.
I'm looking to buy a Doc Frye or Rich and would send it only to Proficient.
Anyone quoting Zappa on their website belongs here. Welcome Home!I also wanted to say thanks for all the great comments over the years. I rarely get in here or post. I did get notification about this post this morning and that is what brought me here. It seems I have been a member on this site for 22 years and have a whopping 14 posts. I hope to get in here more often to thank the writers on these all these threads. When searching for Proficient Billiards there is a lot of content. I have many thanks to reply with.
That is strange. We only use ULINE boxes 5X5 or 6X6. Bubble wrap and paper towels. Filling around the cue might be newspaper or brown paper. And most times we try to reuse the customers tube or box inside our new box for double protection if possible. I am not sure why that would have happened but I do apologize.Scotts work & turnaround is excellent.... only thing that rattled me was the shipping box. This response represents you and your business practices very well my friend. Wish there were more out there like you. My cue has some dings in it and needs some touch ups or a refinish. I'll add you to the very short list of candidates to do this.Sorry to hear about the miscommunication in the pricing. We do charge more when we are doing coat over wraps. And if this cue had a coat over wrap then that is likely where the extra pricing came into effect. All of the prices are posted on the website and on the work order form that is sent along with the cue. We always welcome phone calls and usually like customers to send us photos of the cues before sending so we can see what we are getting into and advise on pricing. If she had an old work order that could also reflect old pricing? Nonetheless please pass along are apologies for the miscommunication in pricing to her. And if we are in error then also we want to correct this. Please let her know. Thanks.
Best Regards,
Scot Sherbine
