Promoters/Players

I posted this in a thread but thougfht it was strong enough for its own thread:

IF THE PLAYERS WOULD PLAY, AND THE PROMOTERS WOULD PROMOTE. Pool might have a chance too many bosses not not enough workers-or what ever the saying is, would help pool alot, KT had a plan it didnt work-and that was terrible. But if someone honerable could implement a plan and the players would just do what they do best PLAY-like we cant, and the PROMOTER was respected like Scott the Shot, POOL WOULD do better, than this dumb ass race to 7, god i hope they split the $$$, there are alot of young guys that can play that arnt geeked up on blow like in the 80's that disappeared when the drugs got them, With them winning $30K to $50K for first place it would stimulate action and desire with the shortstops to play better, all the pieces of the puzzle are there its just a mess, it must be organized with logic not greed or egos, the only people allowed to be greedy are the players and stake horses-thats why they are there, I make alot of $$$ in my gig I have almost 1000 employees-I'm not greedy(not bragging-i'm only making a point), I know deep down in that it will come to me as long as I keep a cool head and not ego trip-nobody likes that. Same with promoters-put the players first and success for all will be the by-product of quality events. Dosent matter where the players are from, we have better video than ever, more spots for tournments more potential sponsers etc, better players who arnt geeked up on drugs, its a solid group of people if everyone would assume their roll things would be better. I dont have the time or knowlege to parcipatate nor do I play good enough, but I would stake Shane anytime

again please dont think the comments about myself were bragging, i was just trying to illustraite a point, that if you give all involved a sence of direction and let nature take its course things will fall into place, i havent been to my businesses in over a year because i set up a solid frame work in the begginning, if that was done in pool it would work-i'm not the guy to do it, but I'm just describing human nature. Nuff about me, If there was a respected promoter that wasnt on an ego trip filling players heads with BS and the players just played, it would work. But telling players to boycott a tournment dosent help anyone, its like a strike it hurts everyone.

opinions?...

There seems to be a contradiction here tho... I agree that someone who is a pro at promoting stuff should handle promoting, don't let an amateur handle it... but part of what you're complaining about is the format (the short race to 7).

Such a short race could only be thought up by someone who doesn't play pool at a decent level and doesn't understand that it's not long enough to settle anything between world champions. So you need someone who can actually PLAY making the important decisions about race length, time limit, break format, etc.

Maybe the bottom line is that an event that is fair for the players and has long races will be too tedious for spectators and harder to promote, even if the promoter is a genius.

It'd be nice if someone had a zillion dollars and said "ok, you top players work out a format you'd like between yourselves, and whatever you come up with I'll agree to promote".
