All the arguments so far assume a pocket generally much larger then the object ball. If a pocket is only wide enough to allow a ball in then there is only one aiming point, one pivot point, one fractional contact point etc., etc.( all other things being equal) No analysis means anything unless the size of the pocket vis a vis the size of the ball is taken into account. If you are cheating the pocket you are obviously aiming at a different spot on the cue ball than if you are aiming to the center of the pocket. But you still pocket the ball.

Sure you have; you just don't know it.
I've met any number of really good players who don't have a clue how they do it. The vast majority of them, in fact. Shortstops, pros, you name it - 99% of them don't have a clue (fortunately, they don't need a clue to play the way they do).
Most of them also believe that being able to make shots means you know how you do it and how others should do it. That's another kind of cluelessness.
