First off, I can't commend Jorge Torres enough about his website. I know there has been at least one other thread about this, but the site is so good, I feel it can't hurt to thank him one more time. (i.e. the editing is superb, leaving out all the unimportant stuff, but leaving in the stuff that I would like to see, i.e. Robb Saez after he beats Earl, Rachael Abbink examining the rack in the latest video, they way players examine certain shots.) And the old schooling video's are great.

Finally, I know there have been various threads about how we can increase prize money in tournaments, sponsorship, how much you would pay to watch certain videos, watch a feed over tables in a pool hall etc. but it seems like if Jorge takes a few more steps, we'd have an interesting mid-level scenario. (The most optimistic scenario is if ESPN started airing the U.S. Open similarly to U.S. Open in Tennis or Golf, but we know that ain't gonna happen in the near future.) But I think if Jorge were to charge a subscribership fee, maybe like $5, $10, $20 a month along with the retail sponsors who are on his site, then his site will start to bring in more revenue. I think many players (I'm guessing at least 200, just from the number of ppl I see on the AZ billiard site everyday) would easily pay that much, particularly for the unique content Jorge puts up. (Easily better than the editing that ESPN does and without commercials.) Also, this gives a venue for videos that other players may put together that maybe worthwhile, (i.e. Colins break video, which was great). And it provides a means for Colin to get paid for his work. (And maybe buy a new camera.) Finally, the extra income that Jorge receives from the subscribers could help to pay for add-ins at tournaments where he films, etc. (If he is given permission for 2 tournmants a month, and he charges $20 a subscriber and gets 200 subscribers, maybe he can have $1000 added to each of those 2 tournaments, and still clear $2000 more.) I'm not sure how much he currently pays to get permission to film, but this could be on top of that. Finally, maybe he could get some other players outside Florida to film some other events.
I think that his commercial sponsors would be happy to see increased subscribership, players would be happy to have more money added, I'd be happy/sad because I might get to see more videos, players from different parts of the country, but would now have to pay for it.
