Proposal for new Mosconi cup format

1. USA
2. Philippines
3. Japan
4. China
5. Taiwan
6. Germany/Austria
7. United Kingdom
8. Blond Group (Finland, Sweden, Norway)

Round robin each country has ONE representative for each discipline. Top Two in each category playoff for that rounds winner

Games played:
9- Ball
8- Ball
Straight Pool
One Pocket
3 C
Snooker

Bottom 3 teams fall off and others are give rotating chance in subsequent years.

Other would be:
Mexico, Canada, Australia, Russia, Mediterranean Team and Korea?

How cool would that be? A world league...

Meh.

I like the Mosconi Cup as it is. I think the best and most unique part of the event is the team format -- not the single representative. To see people band together with a sense of camaraderie is rare in pool, and it brings out the best in the audience and the players. The stakes are higher, the pressure greater, and the thrill of victory more joyous.

As well, the crowds also really get behind their "team" wherever it's played. When played in Vegas, they love the USA team. When played in Europe, they love the Euro team. They root, cheer, boo --- I love it.

I wouldnt mess with the Mosconi Cup, it is fine as it is.......
But your idea is terrific for a seperate event. A World Cup of Cue Sports so to speak.
It would definately be beneficial to all involved to combine all the games, and all the countries together to see who is the best all around players. The competition would be great for the players, and spectators alike!

Nordic skiing has the biathalon - skiing and shooting

In keeping with its seedy image, pool should have a combined shooting title - snooker, russian billiards, english billiards, 3 cushion, one pocket, 14.1, 7 8 9 10 ball on a variety of table sizes, bank, trick shots, M16 and Glock 9mm

I think that the Philippines could find a player. The UK would be a lock for the Snooker. You need all the major disciplines to make it a all around thing.

Thats why I think it would make a great event. Each country would only need one guy to put forward and would not be knocked out by his own countrymen.

I think Ding would definitely make his presence felt.

How about "The Greenleaf Million"...team splits the 1Meg. 2nd place team brings home zilch.
