Proposed changes to mechanics directory

I am not Terry nor did I ever say I was Terry.I simply posted his information being that he asked nicely. You are welcome to remove his listing being that I do not care. Now if you are going insist that you must contribute to be a part of this public forum then post the rules. Now for myself I have worked in the industry for the better part of 20 years as a tech, retail and manufacturing.I now work for my self but not as a tech.Setting up a table is a hobby.I refer what I can to Mark Gregory.

Might not hurt...

Might not hurt, even with the proposed changes, to have a small blurb in the listing advising potential clients it's still a good idea to search through posts for others opinions and feedback. Some people just see a nice ad and stop there. Others stay awake night after night, month after month, searching AZ forums sun up to sundown, post after post, black, tasteless mug of coffee after mug of coffee, some nameless tv program blaring in the background, the noise somehow comforting while bleary eyes spasm from the strain, afraid to make a mistake, anally reading and rereading the same posts over and over, scared to death they may have overlooked some tiny factor, missed something, anything...sorry. I digress.

A little blurb as above would be nice.

Dartman maybe we both shouldn't assume. Now I don't claim to know it all but I've seen what works and what doesn't.On this forum if you want to qualify who can post there add.Have the mechanics show proof of incorporation and liability.I don't think its to much to ask and its certainly information the customer should check on.

Look bud, if someone makes a post to be added to the directory they get added.
If you're not who you say you are then it's easy enough to note that just for GP. There are several people listed that are not AZ members but were added based on recommendations from other members. I left Sammons info but removed your handle since you are not him. If someone chooses to call him the number is there so let's drop the bs.

The directory is meant to be a list of experienced mechanics, many of whom have demonstrated their expertise thru posts and pictures but moreso because a lot of these guys have seen and know the work of others. This forum is an excellent venue to establish, maintain and increase your reputation as a mechanic. These are the people that should be getting the table work because they do it RIGHT as opposed to some unknown person with a free ad on AZB that nobody knows anything about.

Customers are responsible for due diligence and what we're trying to do here certainly goes a long way in helping them do that.

Dartman not Bud I just made a suggestion.Along with your great idea of posting picture's of work why not show your committed to the service by showing Liability.Liability protects yourself and consumer product.Nothing more then a suggestion.

I agree that if one is going to be in the billiards service business then they should have a business liability policy but providing proof is beyond the current scope of the mechanics directory. It is important and should be part of every customers due diligence. I think a lot of customers are just glad they can find someone to do the work and skip the checking of credentials part.

But speaking of business insurance -
this past summer I had 4 tree people come to quote taking down a triple stick 100' tall cottonwood tree. Only 1 guy of the 4 presented a list of references and a copy of his insurance before even looking at the tree. The others, when asked, said they would provide same but had no paperwork with them. This one fellow was the high bid but got the job for several reasons besides being totally professional - and a good tip for his crew when the job was done.

I believe this is now addressed in the directory.
