Pros Spotting Pros

In the era of internet streaming, we've all been privileged with the opportunity to see great players match up with one another. They're [almost] always playing even, and in some match ups, I can't help but think one of the players should be getting some weight.

Does anyone have any stories of matches where two top players matched up and there was a spot involved?

Not looking for a lot of details. Maybe just who the players were, the spot and race, and who won.

I hope that doesn't infringe on any type privacy, but I feel without talking about the money involved, it would be okay. If everyone disagrees, then by all means, we can all just let the thread die.

I can't speak to any world beater vs. world beater matches.

However, a few years back (IPT) era, alcano came thru SoCal and gave some of our local pros/shortstops the 6 out. I believe he gave morro the 7 out, but I could be wrong about that one. I know there was talk about him giving the 6 out to morro as well, but don't think it happened.
I believe alcano won all those matches.
Someone might correct me but I think he played:
King Kong giving the 6 and out in races to 13. (I think) if I remember right Kongo best match was getting to 6 games. I think I saw 2 sets. Can't recall the amount. Ronnie was shooting lights out at that time.
I remember some of us on the rail thought it could be a "pool playing retirement" kind of loss for kong.

Alcano played some others as well on that same trip, but I didn't witness those, and can't recall who they were at the moment.

Chris B Vs D. Appleton. TAR-10 ball-Chris got the call 8 for a lot. chris won. Johnnyt

Kong got the 6 out and got smashed, a south american player that was visiting for the IPT brke even with the same spot, I think Morro broke even getting only the 6.

Bernardo was playing poorly that day, I think it would be a lot closer if he had been at his normal level of play.

I don't know of any right off hand but I would think SVB would have to give most pros weight to play. Would be nice to see his list. I did hear Nevel ask him for the 7. I can't remember if he wanted the break also.

Back in the Johnston city days players always matched up with a little weight. Ronnie Allen was always giving weight to top players. Most recently like last 30 years, players like Parica and Reyes were offering spots to world champions. If you see a player playing a game where it is obvious they have much the worst of it, you can bet they are not playing with their own money. They may even promote a backer to back them and take a shot at what they know is a bad game.

I'm sure he WANTED the break, doubtful he got it.

He didn't lol, I think he added the break last second because Shane started standing up when it was just the 7. A buddy of mine said he couldn't believe what he was hearing. I told him Shane was just that strong.

If a pro has to spot a "pro", is that "pro" even considered a "pro"? What other professional sport does that happen?

In about any sport you will have the "Elite" Everyone else will be more evenly matched against each other. Shane can spot 95% of American pros, just as Tiger can spot most of the field in golf
