I have an ammo brass cleaner too. Lyman brand. I assume yours uses dried corn husks for media, as most do? I find that when I clean brass, it does clean it, but leaves a noticeable residue that I have to clean off in the final stages. Not sure it would be great for phenolic balls but let us know how it goes.

Sure, if you only want half of the balls cleaned. I used a bucket polisher before I built my Gold Crown Polisher. Even with the divider the balls didn't get totally clean. I had to shake the bucket or manually rotate the balls for the entire circumference to be hit.

reminds me of when I was doing my floors. I rented a flooring edger, for those unfamiliar it is a heavy machine with a rotary sanding disk used to agressively sand floors near walls where the drum sander won't go. It sits on a couple of little wheels and the operator controls the contact to the floor. as rest it sits on it's sanding disk, which is usually very aggressive paper.. 36 then successive passes, down to finer grits. I started with 36.

so I go plug the thing in, the thing goes wild dancing all over the place doing damage to anything in it's course.. like R2D2 on a rampage!.. I did unplug it, but not before doing some damage. The problem was the things come with a toggle switch, not a momentary switch. Of course it was left in the ON position...

Some things you only need to learn once.. ;-)
 
I can't say I've ever felt that I missed a shot because of chalk on the ball. If it happens maybe I'm not good enough to know it? Ignorance is bliss I suppose.. ;-)

In the summer, with the bugs attracted to the lights people have to pick a few up on each shot to avoid running them over and mashing them in. I try to throw them in to any nearby spiders webs, might as well feed the critters, they are helping in the effort.

Asketh, and ye shall receiveth. I don't have a picture of that cue ball, but I pictured the same set in the pool ball collecting thread. K2Kraze had the same cue ball and pictured it nicely. It's the old Red Dash cue ball, made by Hyatt. I'm guessing most were made in the 60s and possibly 70s. It was sold separately, sort of like the Red Circle cue ball is today. I hope this picture comes out, it's from page 3 of the pool ball thread.

Pool Ball Collecting.

Good afternoon, everyone. Over the years I have amassed quite a varied mix of pool balls. Does anyone else share this hobby and could perhaps post up a few photographs? I'd be keen to increase my collection if there's some nice sets attracting dust in your attic. Best wishes.

Mines been working just fine for years now. You can't buy patience though...
 
I have one of those and it has a small block Chinese v8 in it. I luckily foresaw what may happen if I were to do what you did. It does however clean the balls well. I do wonder if over time it may reduce the size of the balls. Wool+high speed Chinese v8= ?
 
2.5 years in and I still love my CG 16. I couldn't be happier. The balls ABSOLUTELY get dirty JUST from the touch of human hands and the natural oils on our skin. The cleaner once a week or so puts them back in the condition they were in when I first took them out of the box. A consistent play every rack. I also added some really cool stickers! :-)
