I assume you mean a shot with back spin on the cue ball. In the US that's called a draw shot and in the UK, where you are, it's called a screw shot.
You have to hit the white ball well below center and generally more firmly than for other shots. It will help if you can move the cue stick in a straight line even when it is moving swiftly -- that's what takes the practice.
