When a cue is coverted from a one piece to a two piece there is more that just installing a joint.

What is the purpose of doing this today?

Is the original shaft used?

What else is done and what should you look for in a good converted cue?

If there are two shafts should one be the original?

It is a great way to learn some of the basics of cuemaking with out investing in expensive wood. An old house cue is also seasoned wood which means you can turn it without fear of it warping (providing you put a finish on it).

There are a lot of people who just like house cues, so when they find one that suits them, they want a joint installed. Even though it changes the hit because of the new added joint pin. And believe it or not, there are those few legends in their own mind kind of people who still think they are unknown and hustling.
