I was wondering if any of you have ever put points into a shaft before?
I am thinking about 10-12 inches long and very thin, starting only 3-4mm at the base.
I have seen a shaft made like this a long time ago, I was told it was a Deroo shaft. The points were quite cool looking and I was hoping to get some put into a new shaft I am getting built.
Do you know of how exactly one would go about it? The taper of the shaft being variable along the length of the shaft makes it hard for me to think of a way it could be done. Cutting the points with a sharper angled bit for a cut that would be less affected by the varying taper seems like it might work, but then you need to match up that slot with a point cut to that same angle.
How easy is all of this to put super thin and long points into a shaft like that starting at the joint?
The one shaft I saw like that was awesome, but I am at a loss as to how it was done.
