I hope the above picture shows up.

The question is,
I am sure there are better ways to shoot this. But I want to know how to shoot the que ball so it will stay on the rail.

I want to make the que ball sit on the rail. My opponent is strips. I want to hit the 1 ball and keep it in front of the the que ball and keep the ball on the rail.

is this even possible?

kyootie...The picture did not show up (all that came up was the main cuetable diagram with "CueTable" written on it). There is a sticky on the front page of the main forum that has instructions on how to create and paste a cuetable diagram to your post. Without seeing the shot in question it's difficult to answer. It depends on how far off the rail the OB you're trying to hit is, and also what angle you are shooting into the OB from. You may be able to freeze the CB to the rail...or not. Try to repost a diagram, and we can give you a definitive answer.

Possible, yes. Delicate, yes.
In our Pool School language this would be a Finesse 1/2 speed shot.

Shoot about a 3/4 ball hit to bank the 1 towards the 11. With the right finesse speed, the cue ball will be on the cushion and the 1 will be between it and the 11.
