Anyone used any of the products or all of them?

Currently I use Q Clean, Q Slick, Q Smooth and Q Glide in that order. It works great to clean the shaft and makes it incredibly smooth and free flowing through even the tightest bridge, the feeling doesn't last very long...a day or two's play at most. I was wondering if I'm using the products in the wrong order maybe?

If anyone can recommend a sealer that will keep chalk, oils and dirt off my shaft for longer than 4 or 5 days I would appreciate it.

Cheers

Burnishing the shaft with a scrap of leather or the smooth side of a Q-Wiz should help restore the feeling. I use wax to seal mine after cleaning.

If you play with a shaft that has open grain, then sealing your shaft with wax or other products is a maintenance issue: you just gotta keep doing it. I use carnuba wax and get about a month in between cleanings.

If you're only getting 4 or 5 days between cleanings, then:
- you play a lot, which is great, but is the direct cause of your shaft getting dirty, and therefore can only be temporarily resolved with periodic cleanings, and/or
- you are "dirty" chalker, which can be remedied.

After playing, is your bridge hand stained with chalk? Not at the base of your hand where you rest it on the table, but between your thumb and bridge fingers? If so, you're probably closing your hand around the cube of chalk as you chalk your tip, thereby trapping chalk dust in your hand, and then are rubbing it into your shaft. Try holding the cube of chalk by just a few fingers and allow the chalk dust to fall to the floor. Avoid chalking directly over the pool table because the falling chalk dust lands on the felt and adds to the whole mess.

I use nothing on my shafts but to clean them with a mr clean magic eraser and burnish them with a piece of leather when needed. The use of waxes IMHO just attracts dirt and grime. Wipe down your shafts before play with a clean towel, and keeping your hands clean during play will go a long way.
