Q claw

here's what i do

The claw looks like it can be useful, but it does not clamp down. This means it can be knocked over. It holds the cue up, but when anyone walks near it it can be moved by accident. Here is what I do. I bought a strip of velcro. It is sold in long strips. About the size of a man's belt. I wrap the strip around my case and anything that is stable such as a pole or even a chair if it is a heavy chair. The cue is then inserted into the case when not in use. This is cheap and effective.

I love statements like this ....

Good for you. DOn't get too caught up with the equipment hoopla. I heard a guy winning a tournament using a $20 cue.

Because they forget to add it was a bar tournament with 6-8 players, where it had 1 B player entered, the middle of the pack were C players, and a D or two players, which makes the initial statement irrevelant to begin with.

Caring about your equipment, trying to have good stuff, is one of the attributes that carries over to wanting to play good to begin with. It's like wanting to have a good marriage ..... having a nice house sure doesn't hurt the marriage's chances.

im just doing my homework all i have is my 2 cues, my case, cue cube, steel shaper for my phenolic tip, chalk, tiger ledr burnisher, and a towel and i dont have to worry about not playing well;) ;) :p

Hey, I would recomend ditching the cue cube and upgrading to a willard or some other higher quality shaper. Those cue cubes are terrible! They tear up a tip and don't do a good job even when they are brand new, and that abrasive wears off very quickly. I like the willard which comes in two radiuses ( nickel and dime) and comes as a shaper/tapper combo for about $12. You will lose it before it wears out, it is simple and effective.

Does anyone recomend those cue cubes? I would be suprised to hear that. Antway, what does everyone else feel is the best tip shaper? I always wanted to try that combo shaper from it's george, but have never actually run across one. It seems like a good tool. Any comments?

..damage>that's why i mentioned NOT to buy the make with clips..

If you are talking about the kind with clips such as the Porper or the Q-Clip, these can be used without doing any damage to your cues IF you have access to a table or ledge that is fairly high off the ground (such as a tall bar table). Otherwise, you have to "cram" the cue into the holder and that can't be good on the finish. I have both a 6 cue Porper and a 3 cue Q-Claw in my case and I only use the Porper if a tall table or ledge is availiable. If not, then I use the Q-Claw.

our pool hall bought a crap load of them and screwed them to the furniture. they wont fall off or walk off.

I use a Stick-em-up. It is a black plastic holder that opens like a cloths pin it will work on just about any thickness or height table. It will even fit on most curved bar rails. It also will clip on the round rails that surround the tables at the Vegas tournaments. It does need to be carried hooked on a strap of your case.
I do also have a Mighty-Mini that fits inside almost all case pockets. It is the same as the 2 stick Q-Claw but a lttle smaller. Fits in the case nice. On league night I break them both out. On regular bar playing nights I just have a secure corner I use and a different kit I carry.
