Qlympics/US Open tournaments

I know this is quite a while away still, but does anyone know the answers to the following questions:

Can you play in both the straight pool and the 10-ball tournaments or does it have to be one or the other (they are both being played on the same dates)?
What are the games being played to in the 14.1 tournament and what are the races to in the 10-ball tournament?

Jimmy, can you please provide the date, kind of a where and when, for those of us who are uninformed?

Thanks!

Thanks! :) It's in November, the BCA Pool League. I had thought Jimmy made a typo when he wrote "Qlympics." :p

Hey, are you still in it over there in Europe? I want to see YOU doing the Michael Jackson walk! :)

Yep, won first, lost second (scratched in side from narrow angle on the last ball on hill-hill :( ), won 3rd.

You'll never guess who's here....Marlon Manalo! I also heard some other Filipinos might start making the trip to some future Euro Tour events, maybe some Americans in the future also?

Competition is insane, Marlon was 8:7 down in his first match but squeezed out a 10:9 win. Apart from the US Open its hard to imagine a stronger field, 288 top players!

Robotic dance still looks safe! :p

Well, then keep it going, Craig. You're still in this fight to the finish! :)

Now you know how to touch my heart. Great to hear about the Americans in the future! :D

BTW, I bet a bundle on Marlon Manalo to win the Turning Stone Casino event going on right now, dag nab it. :(

Wow, what a match. Wish I could have seen that one. :)

Well, I'm definitely pulling for you as your number-one American fan. If you do get to the winner's circle, please don't let me down! :D

Are you coming out for this, Craig?

Hi Jimmy, thinking about it if I can go to WPC in Manila. I would also like to know the details u asked.

I will see u in BCA though, although just found out I can't play Valley because I am listed as a Pro now :( (I was intermediate damn it!)

If you need a reserve for your team in vegas or fancy scotch for a laugh om me, only in singles at present.

I emailed Mark Griffin and got this reply:

You can play in both events - one will be in the AM and one in the PM.
There will be about 60 tables available. We are planning on having the
straight pool at 150 points all the way through except 200 for finals.
I guess there is a small possibility the first round might be 125 but
probably not.

We want all the races to be long. So the 10 ball will probably be races
to 10 or 11. We have not worked out all of the particulars yet.

The Qlympics schedule - we will have all the final info in a couple of weeks or so. We are not even taking sign-ups until May 15th.

This is going to be a real event. Unfortunately, we do conflict with the WPA championships in Manila. However, only 6 Americans played in that last year.

This will be BCAPL amatuer national champioships on 9' tables (just like the May event at the Riviera which is on 7' tables). 5 man teams, scotch doubles, and singles. Those are 8- ball.

Also have junior events scheduled. And a bunch of "pro" events: US Open One POcket, 10-Ball, straight pool and full rack banks.

8 tables will be set up for non-stop action. A total of around 68 tables. All tables will be Diamond smart tables.

go to www.playbca.com and click on the Qlympics link. Also the Qlympics banner is on most pool related sites.

Contact Mark Griffin at mark@playbca.com with any questions.

Hi Mark, did you receive my private message I sent you here on AZ?
