Qualifier Lists Have Been Posted

That's interesting. Steve Moore decided to travel to the qualifier in Italy.

The American qualifier list isn't up yet but I imagine it will be loaded with top players. I wonder if that played into his decision.

All the links are messed up on the website. Didn't Takeshi Okumura win a qualifier last weekend. The two US qualifiers from last weekend both show the same thing. The US qualifier for this weekend doesn't even have the players list.

Hiroshi Takenaka won one of the spots last week.

Other than the U.S. list not being displayed the rest look OK to me.

There were some strong players listed there, it will be interesting to see if players like Rico Dics qualify after having such a strong showing in Vegas.

I've said it before. Qualifiers can be brutal.

Someone like Rico Diks, who made it to the $30,000 prize money (which is very, very strong)...might not qualify for this next tournament.

I think his chances are good and he will try as many times as there available. But, that's no guarantee.

If Rico Diks can't make it in again...that's going to look bad for the IPT in my opinion. It will blow holes in all of the "reducing luck" and "best players" rhetoric. It will either show that anyone can get lucky and make it far, or that the system is so screwed up, that top players are getting stuck outside of the IPT due to the difficult nature of qualification and the protective nature of the IPT tour card. If he gets beat in qualifier after qualifier, that doesn't mean just the WINNER of these qualifiers is "better"...that means a large number of the people in that qualifier are up to speed. Which means the IPT does not include anywhere near the amount of "best players" they claim to have.

People are not going to like the IPT if it is too difficult for great players to get in, while shortstops pre-chosen for the IPT linger on for a few seasons (if there are a few seasons). No offense to these people, but the IPT will not be nearly as exciting if we can count on every 1st round to be a joke. With a stronger 150...every round is going to be insane.

I don't know any of the players' names in the Italy qualifier WO-14 except American Steve Moore and Mika Immonen's twin brother, Kari Paloheimo. Moore is still on the A side of the charts at the time of this writing. :)

I don't know one player's name in the Qualifier WO-11 taking place in Japan. :o

In the Netherlands Qualifier No. 12, German Michael Schmidt is rising to the top and looks like he's going to go all the way.

In Switzerland at Qualifier No. 13, I gotta pull for my man Sandor Tot. Go Sandor and hope to see you in Reno, my friend! :)

The only qualifier this weekend in the States is at Bayside, NY, and there's quite a few familiar names on the player roster, to include Tony Crosby, Richard Broumpton, Antonio Lining, Marco Marquez, Robb Saez, Santos, Bobby Pickle, and Shaun Wilkie. Nice to see Bobby Pickle's name listed and that he's out there competing. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I gotta root for my hometown boy Shaun Wilkie. This Maryland young gun breaks like a cannon and can get there.

I agree 100% with your assessment/opinion....But just to be a little more exacting on one point.....There are different levels of shortstops > strong shortstops are not necessarily out of place in the IPT, but 'pre-chosen'/ non-competitive at this level weak shortstops, have no business being in the ITP and the sooner they are weeded out and replaced with stronger players the better.

Looks like a good decision right now-One more win and he is in!

Everybody's a shortstop until they win the big one, IMHO! That's how they become champions, scrapping it out with the big dogs. :o

Mika's twin Kari is still in the running on the B side of the charts in Italy.

Sandor Tot needs one more win to clinch the Reno qualifier.

Bobby Pickle vs. Shaun Wilkie match in progress at Bayside, NY, both in the losers' bracket.

Picture taken at 2004 U.S. Open. Bobby is in the middle with Keith Bennett of North Carolina on the left and the other Keith on the right.:p
