I recently purchased a cue from someone at my pool hall, we know eachother I had asked him if he knows somewhere i can get a cue around a $130-$180. He said he had some cues.

he had quantum cues, i tried em out and they felt nice, he said I can take it for a $100, does anyone know if quantum cues even go for that much?

I want to put a new and better tip on the cue, something of high quality.

what tools would i need and what kind of tip?

even if the cue is cheap and i put a better tip on will it play better? or anything else i can do to make it play better?

this is my first cue I ever purchased.

yeh its not the meucci quantum line, when i googled it thats what i thought because the cue looked very similar but i noticed the colour difference on the butt. it says quantum on the butt of the cue. Im sure its not a meucci.

A good tip is more important than a good cue.

...and when you think about it, the tip is the only part of the cue that hits the ball.

Ya, but you still want to avoid ones that make weird sounds! I didn't even notice the sounds my Viking and meucci's make until after getting my first custom, now it bugs me every shot when switching back!

Yeah, I've had cues like that also.
However, you can have the best cue ever made...but if the tip is lousy...
...the hit is lousy.

Meucci cues are not very well made.
And I'm being kind with that statement.

Even though the tip is the most important part of a cue it's not the only part. Weight, balance, shaft size and taper, ferrule weight and material, etc.......all make a difference. :welcome:
