Question about a dufferin cue

Thanks for all the advice! It really is not playable as is, the cracked ferrule and the cracked shaft collar give it a lot of rattles and vibrations when you hit ...

There is one on the bay for a lot more than I originally paid for it, but may be much cheaper than a refurbish...thoughts?

Only you can decide. Some people, and I'm guessing I would tend to lean more this way, would, because of all the sentimental value (and which is the whole purpose for wanting it back in great condition to begin with), would if possible want it to be the same one that has the sentimental value, not just the same model as the one that has the sentimental value. I want the cue that my Dad gave me and that I learned to play with, not some replacement cue I bought that looks like it. And then i think there are other people that would probably say "the replacement stick will look just like it, so it doesn't actually need to be the same stick as long as it looks the same and that satisfies my sentimentality in the matter and that's plenty good enough for me". And they are both right, for them.

Only you can best judge whether you are more likely to feel more like the former or the latter, and if it is the former, the only other question you then have to ask yourself is whether it is worth it, to you, to spend the X extra dollars to make it happen to the original stick, or will the cost difference be enough that practicality and the money have to take precedence over your sentimentality this time, or put another way, what is the dollar amount line for you in this case that you are no longer willing to cross in the name of sentimentality? Once you decide that the decision is pretty much made for you, and whichever way it ends up you should decide in advance you are going to be at peace with that decision because it will have been made for a good reason whether the reason ends up being practicality or sentimentality.

Per Poolplaya9's comments - when I sent a boogered-up cue to Proficient the "quote" (best guess) was based on pictures of the cue beforehand. Gave me confidence to ship and the price did not change once they got it in hand.
