Question about main aiming eye and playing with both hands

Hi! I have a question if anyone can help me with, i think here is the right place :)

I'm playing billiard now for almost 8 years and for some time now i noticed i can play with both hands (i play always with my LEFT hand holding the cue), but i am more accurate with my other hand (but I played only few times and is a bit rusty) and i think this is because my dominant eye is RIGHT, but when i'm aiming, i have my left eye over the cue (left handed and left eye is closer).

When i play with right hand, i get more cut shots that i "cant" get with my regular playing hand (left).

I played yesterday, threw 15 balls on the table and tried to run out in rotation, and then switched hands and did almost a bit better (of course draw shots are harder to control (i write and throw balls with my left, but i hold forks and mouse with the right and there is a difference in strenght of hands).

QUESTION:
So what is the correct way to aim shots, dominant eye over cue or chin on over the cue? I get better results on cut shots if i use my dominant eye and it is confusing for me, plus i get pain in my back (i play 3+ hours a day due to free training from my membership in my pool hall) from strange posture i use (of was using until recently) trying to aim with the other eye.

Thank you for your time and sorry for such a long description, i wanted to be precise. :)

The right way to position your head over the cue is not necessarily with the cue under your dom eye, nor under your chin. Since we actually sight down the cue using both eyes, what we really want to do is position our head wherever it needs to be to be able to sight straight down the cue so that the perception and reality of where we are aiming is the same. That shouldn't change when you change hands.

We have to see that the cue is pointing through the cue ball to the aiming point of the shot. The head position will be different for different people. Look at Earl, with his cue off to his right, then look at Allison, with her chin touching the cue. Both of them do a pretty darn good job of aiming, so neither is wrong.

Find the position that gives you the most accurate sight line, and try to be there for every shot.

I hope that helps a little bit.

I agree 100% steve........

y9b......know this that eye dominance has nothing to do with shooting pool as eye dominance has to do with objects in hands reach........

pool is not played in hands reach.....the only thing in hands reach is the CB!

we use both eyes equally to shoot pool
