Question about OB Plus shaft

I'm sure its possible but depends on the shot. Its happened with center QB as well as juiced.

You may only think you are hitting center but could be swiping at the ball or just lining up off center. Make sure the ball has no spin after you hit it when you miss.

Since you went from a normal to a LD shaft, I would say that is exactly why you are missing 10% of your shots. See what you miss, re-shoot it again and try to aim fuller/thinner and watch what the cueball does when you hit it.

My son and I both went through this same thing where some cut shots would miss. Mike Dechaine watched my son play a bit and suggested a less LD shaft, he was using the OB2, went to the OB1 and was able to pocket those shots better. Mike said that how the shaft works with the stroke it ends up needing more of an adjustment with some cut angles than others if you are not totally used to the shaft from years of playing with an LD shaft.

I have noticed on several shots that it seems to throw the object ball off path for no reason (hope that makes sense)....Run out to the 9, 8 or whatever and have a very simple shot, very little angle say 12-18 inches and miss the shot.

I use an OB2+ with an Ultraskin Pro Soft tip. I have the same problem you describe, however it's with every cue I've ever used. And it happens on every shot. :D

Seriously, if you're running 8 balls without a problem...and then missing the 9-ball, I doubt it's caused by the shaft/tip combo.

Shaft

Has anyone had any problem with the weight of the ob+ series. It's a little lighter in weight which feels different and drops weight of whole cue almost 1/2 oz.

How much does your shaft weigh ?

Is the shaft collar less ( Sneaky Pete )

And is it a wood to wood joint ?

If you really think about the construction of any ld shaft that has a hollow center it has to be lighter in weight compared to a solid maple.

I am not trying to be rude but longer ferrules made out of heavier materials and
Phenolic collar's on the joint with metal rings weight more then machined laminated wood or even solid wood .

LD shaft ferrules are designed to use the lightest possible materials ............
That is why you see so many of them fail.

LD shafts are like a race car designed and constructed to be as light as possible or at least the tip end of the shaft is....
The only way to get the weight back on say a collarless sneaky pete laminated LD shaft drilled for a big pin 3/8x10 - 3/8 x 11 is to order in a extra long shaft.
OR
You can drill the butt of the shaft in the pin bore and put a weight bolt in the shaft,
Personally I think that is a bad idea and could be a risky repair because of the outward pressure that the weight bolt (could ) put on the joint area of the shaft.

I believe predator fills the core of there shafts with silicone.....

The non laminated LD shafts that I have made are filled with foam ........

This is the REAL problem with LD shafts, some more than others.

They are too light - your cue is no longer balanced - the only way to get a nice balance point in your cue is to use a butt that is too light as well.

If you have no problem shooting with a tooth pick then a shaft that weighs under 4 oz. might be for you.

Good luck.

He could move the weight bolt in the butt of his cue to get the right balance point.

I don't know the exact weight of most LD shafts , it would greatly depend on the style of joint.

I know that a 3/8 x 10 wood to wood with a melamine ferrule and normal phenolic collars weigh from 3.5 to 4.1 .oz

3 ,9 oz and up is rare and normal is 3.6 -3.8 oz

It also depends on the taper .
