Question about points

First, I want to thank Dick from RHN Custom Cues. The jig you told me about in another thread worked perfect for my mitered veneers. They are perfect. I have since completed a couple of forearms with mitered veneers, they have turned out OK and one was perfect. I only have one last problem with my points that I really need help with - The main wood (non veneer) is chipping at the point - it's not all the time on every forearm or every point but intermittently. I think it may be the glue I'm using (Tight bond 3) but I'm not sure. I know that the wood is at a perfect 90 degrees, and the press I have - to put the wood into the veneers - is good. Maybe there is something I am missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick

When I turn my forearms I have had this problem, too. For years I have coated the ends of the points with super glue gel, between cuts. End of problem...JER

I use west system for my points. What I do is let the glue sit in the pocket and on the point wood for 4 min or so. That and using cyno between passes eliminated the tips of the points chipping.

I use titebond on my point construction untill It comes time to gule them into the forarm then I use west. I had noticed some tear out using titebond so I switched to west and have had zero since.

Points

When cutting the points down I cut from the butt end to the joint end.
This way you are not cutting into the sharp end of the point. Also the
CA glue helps.
