Question about refinishing a cue

Is it possible to refinish a cue with a slight warp in the butt; the cue in question is off round by about 1-2mm from one side to the other. The cue may require the ring work around the joint to be lathed off and replaced and was wondering if the warp would make this operation impossible. I normally would not bother refinishing a cue in this condition, but it is a 25-30 year old Scruggs that still hits like a monster. I would like to resurrect it and this is the only problem that I am worried about.

Another question is if there is some technique for removing the warp in the cue; maybe by applying pressure in the opposite direction for a period of time. The reason I wonder if this is viable is that the stick most likely picked this warp up from being in a closet for a very long period of time laying on its side and not from the wood changing shape of its own volition.

I actually talked to Mike Cochran about refinishing the cue before I bought it and found the defect and plan on calling him early Monday. I mainly posted this hoping that someone could help calm my anxiety levels before then so I can get some sleep. I am worried that he will say he cannot refinish the cue at all and in my opinion this cue deserves the TLC I want to get for it.
 
Relax.
Most or all of the warp can be removed by replacing the maple handle under the wrap. Mike or Tim can recenter the butt, handle, and forearm and refinish and rewrap. It will be brand new.

A dime is about 1 1/2mm, is the warp that bad & WHERE is it warped? When you roll the shaft & butt seperatly how do they roll?...JER

Maybe its not that large. The only time you can notice the roll is if you are looking really hard for it. When you roll the butt across a surface you cannot notice it unless you are looking at the slit of light under the butt. I only noticed it after rolling the assembled cue on the table. The warp is definitely at the point where the crown meets the wrap.
