Ok, I think I am going to ask the most stupid question of my life. I am ashamed to even ask this but, Here we go. I am looking at putting a table in my basement but, space is a huge issue so I am limited to a 7' table the exact size of the green is 36 1/2" x 72". It is a used table that does not come with balls and when I go to purchase a set what size do i buy? Yes, I wish I could buy a full size table and spend some major $ on it but, I do not have the room so this is the best I can do. please Help. Thanks Joe

If I understand you correctly you are essentially asking if balls for a bar box are a different size than for a 9 foot table. The answer is no, they are the same size. Regulation pool balls are 2 1/4" in diameter.

The only time I know of where there is a difference is in a commercial setting where the CB is a little larger than the object balls so that it diverts to the cue ball return rather than going into the lock box with the rest of the balls.

Any standard set should be OK.

Thanks, I was not sure on this table due to the fact that my brother in law bought a cheap bar size table from Kmart and his balls to the table are much smaller than normal size. Thanks Joe

Don't sweat it.. It's ok to have questions, not everyone know so no big deal.. As DPP stated, all pool ball should be the same size but are NOT created equal.. 2.25" each..

I would not suggest skimping on your ball choice, Aramith are my personal favorites.. YMMV

Yep, thats right & most of us are not Pro's & never will be including me! I like the bar boxes & have a lot of fun on em. Some guys like to put em down but, when freinds come over to play games the bar boxes are ok by me.

Thanks, I just can't pass up a deal on a used table. I can get it set up in the basement and I will have to use a short stick in a few spots but, I will be ready for valley forge. I will not skimp on the ball's as I want this table to play good. i will most likely order some new felt as well.

On a slightly different note. I know many people like yourself you get a good deal on a table or it might just be very used. In most cases if you replace the rail rubber and cloth and get it done by a good mechanic. You can save tons of money on the table and still get a great playing surface (like new). Add some Aramith balls and your good to go. Have fun!

I have a friend, Rich Geiler that use to have a 9ft GC1 in a single car garage, with no room to play around it at all because it was pushed right up into a corner with only one side and one end available to shoot from...with no short spots. The table had a ball return so the end of the table was also the ball return end. He managed to be ranked at one time somewhere around 32# on the Pro Tour back in the 80's...because he could still practice his stroke, bank shots, combo's...and position play...from only 2 sides of the table,....something to think about;)
