I am looking to buy a cue and the forearm is ash with four maple points.
Just wanted to know more about ash like is it a heavy wood? What is the hit and feel like? Thanks for the help, john

Stiff and stable, medium heavy IMO. It's a great wood for cues, but not that pretty IMO.

It is roughly the same weight as maple. It is just a little stiffer than maple. Most would put it in the second place for shaft wood. Many snooker players put it in first place. My guess is because of the smaller snooker cue shaft diameter they like the extra little bit of stiffness. My only complaint with it is the rough grain texture similar to oak.

Thanks for all the replys. That is just what I wanted to know. Thanks and have a great day. john
