My guess would be, Brazilian, or a wacked out piece of cocobolo, I have a couple pieces of cocobolo that are similar, I also have a piece of brazilian that looks nothing like brazilian, hopefuly more chime in.
Looks like cocobolo root to me. Pictures of the entire piece would help, instead of just the figured section. But yeah, the first pic is a giveaway. What does it smell like when you cut it? Each wood has it's own unique scent.

Been seeing a lot of it like this lately.....grain run out up the whazooey.... I think they are trying to salvage more of the tree and cutting into the crotches for the boards.
Cocobolo crotch wood or i guess it could be some of that Brazilian stump wood going around.you will be able to tell instantly when you cut it between Coco and Brazilian.
