I know that the Golden Cue in Queens was sold. but is the place that they opened in its place still open. and what is it now called? up here in Albany we were just wondering. We have 1 of their old heated billiard tables. What a mess they were. maybe 2,000 burn marks on the rails. but the new owner redid all the rails and in my opinion, took all the charm away from it.....................mike

It's there in the same spot where Golden Q used to be. It's a big yellow building on Queen Blvd in the 60s--you can't miss it. I've yet to visit the place but they're half a pool room and half a bowling room. I think they also have this center atrium thingy for smokers. The bowling balls are painted to look like pool balls. The name of the place is escaping me. Maye Jude knows.

I believe the establishment in Elmhurst, Queens that replaced the Golden Q is called the Play Sports Bar, a sports bar having bowling alleys and pool tables.

It's the same people who bought the pool hall in Forest Hills, also the one in Bayside (used to be called B.B.C) , and the one in Manhattan where the old Chelsea Billiards used to be. They changed the names of most of them to Slates.

No more action, no more watching hustlers at work. It's all about 20ft long bars, blasting music, cheesy food for people to hang out at and of course shoot some pool because it's "cool" even though they don't know how to hold a cue stick.

Sorry, just had to vent.
